Okay… So what if it’s almost February already?
Starting next week we will have new winter hours…
We will be open:
12-7 Monday & Thursday-Sunday
and will be closed/by appointment only Tuesday – Wednesday
Our goal is to maximize our hunting time and make the shop better…
Look forward to a fuller/fresher store and way more new stuff!

These great wooden folding chairs from a traveling carnival are an old favorite of ours.
We had them for a few months last year before selling out and are really pleased that we’ve been able to get our hands on more.
We’ve got a good stock of them, but they move fast.
In the store now!

It is my pleasure to introduce you to the new KCS mascot- the shark.
He was born one day a few weeks back when our good friend Amy and I decided to cover the rust on the new KCS van… call it heat stroke or blame the paint fumes…
we couldn’t be more proud of our new addition.

with a back hoe, obviously…
if only this had occurred to me sooner.

My dad says it’s an important character trait to be able to disagree politically with someone and still be their friend…
my dear friend Don Wood over at fat dog fabrication really put my character to test when he threw this sign on one of his (admittedly awesome) custom concrete tables in his booth next to mine at brooklyn flea:

classy, right?
I considered challenging him to a duel,
but then I found twenty commercial sewing machine bases in the basement of that garment factory…
we talked it over and decided to shake hands and join forces-
below is one of a few custom butcherblock/sewing machine tables we’ve made recently…
we (all don) even customized the height of one to make a kitchen island-
we’ve got about a dozen bases in varying industrial designs and the butcherblock can be made to custom sizes/lengths/etc.
see the cease fire in action at the store and flea this week!

A few weeks back we pulled a couple of thousand wooden type blocks out of the inkiest/grimiest basement near Earlington, PA.
This stuff was seriously, seriously dirty- but you could tell it was going to be good.
Well, it’s taken almost a month (and a team of dedicated workers) but the type is cleaned and oiled and really, really beautiful. stop by and spell out your name, or the name of some one you love! (mom!)
